12/24/2023 Christmas Eve Morning
A Children’s Service of Songs & Readings
The fourth Sunday in Advent is typically dedicated to themes of prophecy and fulfillment, especially themes that suggest that the coming Messiah would be a descendant of King David. Those promises were first given to David nearly 1,000 years before Christ came, but were repeated and affirmed in greater detail about 700 BC during the ministry of the prophets Isaiah and Micah.
The specifics of God’s plans to save the world were hidden for ages. Even with Isaiah’s famous prophecy of the virgin birth and Micah’s mention that the Savior would be born in Bethlehem, the words of the prophets were veiled in mystery until Jesus appeared and made them clear.
Today it is our honor and privilege to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to some of the most famous Old Testament prophecies of Jesus, and see them fulfilled in his birth. Redeemer men of high school age will serve as lectors, and the many children of our Sunday school will add their voices to songs of worship and praise.
God bless your worship!
