Sixth Sunday after Epiphany

Everyone knows that there is more work in the church than there are workers.  Even in Jesus' day, he trained twelve insiders - disciples - who would later be "apostles," sent out to help establish the New Testament Church.  The work was bigger than the twelve, though.  So Jesus also trained common people, laity, to go out on face to face visitations two by two.  Still it wasn't enough!  The words in today's Gospel, "Ask God to send out workers" is a plea for more laity to be trained and sent out!
