SERVICE OF THE CROSS OF CHRIST

The service of the cross of Christ is designed to be used Good Friday afternoon.  During the fateful hours between noon and 3pm, Jesus hung on the cross to suffer and die for the sins of the world.

This devotional service invites the worshipper to ponder the prophetic words of Isaiah written some 700 years before Jesus' birth, yet describing in detail the work of our suffering servant, Jesus.  Later in the service John's account of the crucifixion is read, demonstrating Christ to be the fulfillment of Isaiah's words.

The service incorporates time for meditation and reflection.  It will be celebrated in an unhurried manner.  There is no prelude or preservice music.  Following the final response, the minister exits silently, and the congregation may follow.
