5/7/2023: The Installation of Pastor John Hartmann
“GOD WILL MEET ALL YOUR NEEDS” Guest pastor, John Holtz will preach on Philippians 4:19
About Pastor Hartmann: John Hartmann grew up feeding calves, baling hay and milking cows on the family farm outside of Crete, Illinois.
Upon graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1986, Pastor Hartmann was assigned to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Batesland and Our Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Martin, South Dakota. A year later, a daughter congregation, Rock of Ages Ev. Lutheran Church was established in Gordon, Nebraska. In 1993, he accepted the call to serve as a field missionary to the Southern Province of Zambia. Over the years, he helped supervise fifteen congregations, which are now served by three Zambian pastors, and served on the Board of Trustees, the legal arm of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa-Zambia, and other committees. Pastor Hartmann also served as the Financial Secretary for the Lutheran Mission in Zambia for many years.
In 2012, the Hartmann’s were relocated from the quiet, rural Southern Province to Zambia’s hustling, bustling capital city of Lusaka. Since 2017, Pastor Hartmann has been serving as the leader of Outreach for the WELS One Africa Team. Along with other missionaries, he has visited and taught doctrine to church groups that desire fellowship with WELS in Liberia, Uganda and Tanzania. The Outreach team has also been in discussions with church groups from other African countries, including Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Benin. In the past few years, Pastor Hartmann helped teach the on-line TELL Bible courses produced by the WELS Multi-Language Productions to people across Africa and other countries around the world.
